Poland is a beautiful country that many people don’t really know about. From the Tatra Mountains to the architecture of Krakow, there is so much that Poland has to offer. And there are just so many places that will make you want to go to Poland on your next vacation.
Honestly, when I moved to Poland a few months ago, I was excited because I could finally go on a nice Euro trip. But with time I learned so much more about this country & my point of view has completely changed. No doubt, I still want to go & explore Milan, Venice, Barcelona & so many other places but I also want to discover the smaller, less-talked-about places in Poland.
So my bucket list for Poland has grown so much in these 6 months & I’m more than excited to share it with you guys
Since I have already been to Auschwitz, Krakow & Warsaw, I’ve not included them in this list.
Located on the Baltic coast of Poland, this port city is truly a must see in Poland. It is one of Poland’s oldest towns and boasts of an age-old European tradition & beautiful harbor. It is very different from any other Polish city & is a beautiful sight to behold comes summer or winter.
Masurian Lakeland
The Masurian Lakeland or Masurian Lake District boasts of over 2000 lakes as well as large forests. It is truly a paradise for various outdoor activities especially sailing & windsurfing and as well as hiking, fishing, kayaking, bicycling and horseback riding.
Świnoujście
Świnoujście ranks among the most attractive destinations on the Polish seacoast. Located at the north-western end of Poland, is the only Polish city located on several dozen islands. It is also called the Land of 44 islands out of which only 3 are inhibited.
The Wieliczka Salt Mine
The Wieliczka Salt Mine is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Poland. It was opened in the 13th century & continued to produce table salt till 2007, making it the world’s oldest salt mine in operation. The mine sites around 25 levels below the ground & features dozens of statues and four chapels carved out of the rock salt by the miners.
Wrocław
Wrocław was once described as “the holy blossom of Europe, a beautiful gem among cities”. What makes it so different than another Polish city is the fact that Wroclaw is an amalgamation of German, Polish, Bohemian & Prussian influences that are reflected well in its architecture. Since the city is spanned with more than a 100 bridges, it almost looks like a city on water. Also, if you look closely, you can find some really interesting dwarf statues around the city. These are called the Wroclaw Dwarf & started appearing near the old town in 2005 and have been growing ever since. There are currently a total of 165 dwarf statutes in Wroclaw. They have become so popular today that tourists go on a dwarf search across the city, trying to catch them all.
Zakopane
Nested in the foothills of the very famous Tatra Mountains in Southern Poland, lies the city of Zakopane. It is Poland most popular mountain resort best known for its scenic hikes in summer & skiing in winters. It boasts of amazing wooden villas dating back to late 19th & early 20th century.
Sopot
A part of the Tri-City or Trójmiasto, Sopot is another lovely destination just half an hour away from Gdansk. This sea spa town has been a retreat for the rich and royal for centuries. The wooden pier at Sopot is the longest in Europe. It is a pleasant, simple walkway into the open sea surrounded by a jetty and quaint lovely cafes. The food, the vibes & the weather, especially when it is a bit warm, makes it an excellent Riviera destination.
So where are you headed next??
